This is 50 comedy.com will stream show of the same name US rapper 50 Cent will launch a new website to coincide with the debut of his new entertainment vehicle, This Is 50 Comedy Show, due to be filmed in New York and streamed live online.

According to the beta version of the website, which is already live, the new venture will “expose the world-wide web subscribers to the cutting-edge humour of the nations funniest comedians”.

The show will be hosted by comedian Young Jack Thriller and will run on the last Thursday of every month, starting today. Live-streaming access will cost $2.99, with all proceeds going to aid the relief effort for the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Originally a chart-topping rap and hip-hop artist, 50 Cent – real name Curtis Jackson – is now something of a media mogul, having tried his hand at everything from acting to designing his own vitamin water drink (“Formula 50”). In 2007, he was named the second wealthiest performer in the rap industry by Forbes magazine, behind Jay-Z.

Not widely celebrated for his comic talents, 50 Cent caused outrage back in March for posting “jokes” about the Japanese tsunami to some four million followers on his Twitter page.

He later explained: “Some of my tweets are ignorant. I do it for shock value. Hate it or love it. I’m cool either way.”
